In this category you will find MMIC with high reverse isolation between input and output (S12), they are suitable as buffer for VCOs and oscillators in general.
These particular integrated circuits are used in professional applications, such as final stage or driver in laboratory RF signal generators, military RF-VHF front-end receivers for example Watkins - Johnson, Rohde & Schwarz, A class amplifiers, and laboratory and so on. They have better features than common MMICs, such as a low input/output VSWR, constant phase throughout the whole band with a fair group delay and P1dB, IP3, IP2 specified and guaranteed. They are typically used in wide band circuits and also where there is the need of a very fast response of recovery time.
Some have the two dc-block capacitors already inside which greatly ease their use, other models have not the capacitors inside (which have to be added externally) this can be an advantage especially for use at low frequencies or for applications that must be customized considering that they can virtually operate starting from dc.
