In HF and VHF mica is an almost perfect dielectric and it has many advantages. In medical and military fields they are a quality and reliability standard, they have an exceptional thermal stability, low moisture absorption, a very low aging guarantee operation even at extreme temperatures, in fact, mica has an excellent chemical stability and high dielectric strength. Mica is widely known for its characteristics of good electric insultator with a very good dissipation factor (low loss) so a good Q. They are available both in vertical and horizontal configuration.
