This mixer is part of a category of microwave devices with a wide bandwidth, both RF/LO and IF.
They are manufactured using the LTCC technique (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic), a sort of multilayer technology, that guarantees very high repeatability and miniaturization, the main benefits of LTCC are:
- Super small size , this is very important when you work with microwave frequencies
- High repeatability and high performances using low loss ceramic substrates
- Low cost due to high volume production
Thanks to wide IF bandwidth they can be used for up and down converters, covering a large number of applications up to 15 GHz and with LO level from +4 to +10dBm. The isolation is typically 25 dB (20 to 35dB), not so bad for very wide bandwidth devices.
