This device is the classic modulator and demodulator but it can also be used as mixer, switch/chopper, synchronous demodulator for AM or quadrature for FM, phase comparator, differential amplifier, etc... it is suitable for RF applications too. It's the Philips answer to the Motorola MC1496 competitor but not pin compatible.
