These metal boxes are suitable for use on printed circuit board (typically 20 or 30 mils) and are used to contain particularly critical circuits that need to be shielded, we can do an example of a VCO or a DDS synthesizer that needs a proper filtering and metal enclosure. The box is made up of a four 0.3 mm thick brass sides which are soldered on the printed circuit board with a very narrow pitch (5 mm), this provides an excellent ground connection even at medium-high frequencies. Each box has also a removable nickel-plated 0.3 mm thick cover, the most valuable characteristics is that the cover always fit a finger between the internal and external ensuring very good RF shielding. There is also a particular feature that worth some more words: they are very delicate so they have a special packaging to protect them so the price is lower if they are bought in their original package, this reduce the time for packaging and guarantee a better protection of the boxes for shipment and stocking.
